[0.0s] Previously on Dumbgeons and Dragons. [2.2s] You very quickly find Tiny and Clip Clop. [6.4s] You come across Donnie's collar. [10.2s] No hints or clues or anything other than the collar are left of his whereabouts. [17.8s] Someone's stolen Donnie. [20.0s] What if we continue to look as we travel? [24.7s] I don't think we have much of a choice. [27.4s] We're running out of supplies out here, wandering through the forest. [31.8s] Let's head to Waterdeep. [33.3s] As long as you want to stay with us, Lex, you're welcome. [35.8s] Well, let's see how things go in Waterdeep. [38.0s] Do you know where your creator, does your creator have a name? [42.1s] I don't know. [44.4s] When I left him, I was in no condition to ask questions. [50.5s] So I think I remember how to get back there. [54.5s] You think you hear a noise, familiar noise. [57.9s] I turn around. [59.5s] As you turn back around, you're immediately faced by the image of Nularaaaa. [66.7s] No, damn it! [68.2s] Your hand goes to a blade, you pull it out, and you see Nularaaaa's dagger. [74.8s] The glowing red eyes and they thrust up into the body of Nularaaaa in front of you. [79.9s] Welcome to Dumbgeons and Dragons. [83.9s] We're a D&D 5th edition actual play podcast and I'm your dungeon master, [87.4s] Russ Boren. [88.3s] With me today is Amy More. [90.6s] I'm here. [91.5s] My name is Amy More. [92.8s] I play Thea Amastasia and my favorite animal is a cuttlefish. [97.5s] And Carla Maxted. [100.2s] I am also here. [101.8s] I am Lex and my favorite animal. [105.8s] I mean, realistically, it's a dog. [107.8s] I probably have a more exotic choice, but truly dogs. [113.8s] And Toblaird. [115.5s] Yeah, also here playing FlintFirebeard and my favorite animal. [121.6s] It's got to be those Dankoalas. [124.9s] Such a good choice, they're so adorable and so stoned all the time. [128.5s] It's great. [129.1s] Oh, so high all the time. [130.8s] I hear when you make them angry, though, they're really angry. [134.2s] But I mean, in their defense, Russ, when you make anything angry, [137.8s] it's really angry. [138.5s] Who's trying to make a koala angry? [139.7s] Touche. [140.9s] Remember how you made Amy angry during the last episode? [143.1s] Yeah, I remember last episode. [144.3s] Let's see how that plays out. [145.0s] I don't remember that episode at all. [146.8s] I've blocked it from my memory. [148.6s] I don't know what you're talking about. [150.4s] Well, there's this dagger. [152.6s] What dagger? [155.0s] Just a thing that's been kicking around. [156.4s] Well, you know what? [157.3s] If I end up with this dagger, I'm naming it Mick Dagger. [163.5s] Suddenly doesn't have the dagger. [167.8s] That's right. [168.6s] I'm just going to pun anything you throw at me. [170.9s] Yeah, that's fair. [172.1s] Where we have lots of punny things. [176.7s] Not that many does scare people away from it. [179.4s] No, I mean, there's some. [181.2s] Our stuff is much better than what Russ just demonstrated. [183.8s] Yeah. [184.2s] No, it's very good over there. [187.0s] That was less good. [188.2s] But the stuff we have over there is very good. [192.2s] I'm really selling this. [192.9s] Over where, Russ? [193.7s] You're doing a great job. [194.9s] Over on Patreon. [195.9s] Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast. [198.2s] Didn't I say Patreon already? [199.4s] I don't think you did, but then you kept. [204.0s] So on Patreon, there's all this bonus content. [238.0s] You've got a super cool first name. [240.7s] So the whole thing goes together. [242.1s] Sounds like a celebrity name. [244.2s] Oh, it totally does. [246.0s] Or a high school jock. [248.5s] Oh, yeah. [249.2s] I mean, either one, but really the celebrity of the high school. [253.4s] Now we've made up this whole backstory for you, Colter. [255.8s] Yeah. [256.1s] So if that's your backstory, I mean, it can be now. [259.2s] It's recorded. [260.3s] You could just say this is me. [261.8s] Yeah. [262.8s] You could just make that your ringtone. [265.0s] If you want. [265.9s] It's all yours. [267.0s] Just clip it. [267.7s] You're good. [268.4s] Thank you, Colter. [269.8s] You can check out more about becoming a patron over at Patreon.com slash dumb [275.7s] dragon cast and see all the cool stuff. [279.1s] And now. [281.0s] Fuck it. [281.4s] Let's play D&D. [284.2s] If we have to. [290.0s] A strong start. [290.8s] I see Amy is still salty about last time. [292.8s] Just a little salty. [295.7s] We pick right back up with Thea. [298.2s] You have before you. [300.8s] You have Dagger in hand. [303.6s] And Nulara's dripping wet decaying body. [310.8s] And she's pushing herself towards you. [313.8s] With the knife in her. [315.0s] She's like walking into the knife. [316.8s] Yeah. [317.9s] Oh, Nulara, why? [321.5s] She doesn't answer. [322.8s] And Flint and Lex, you hear kind of a panicked scuffling. [328.6s] I don't know how Thea would be exactly vocalizing her concerns at this moment. [334.1s] But you turn around and see Thea holding a dagger in hand. [339.3s] Panicking. [341.3s] Is it bloody? [341.8s] Is the dagger bloody? [344.4s] You are still in your mind palace right now. [348.2s] I'm talking to Flint and Lex. [349.8s] Oh, you're not even talking to me anymore. [351.8s] The dagger's not bloodied. [354.0s] That makes two of us, Russ. [357.1s] All right. [357.6s] I'm just going to excuse myself in the room here. [360.8s] This dagger ruins lives. [363.6s] I look at Lex and kind of look back at Thea and say, [372.2s] I'll go high, you go low. [377.6s] Lex is the six foot one, you're the four foot one. [381.5s] That's right. [382.1s] Okay, cool. [383.0s] I love it. [383.8s] Describe to me this scene. [385.6s] Yeah, you don't know what's happening with them. [387.4s] You describe to me this scene as it plays out high and low. [391.9s] I take a couple steps as a bit of a run and jump towards Thea who's holding this dagger. [402.1s] With both hands, I go for the arm that's holding the dagger [406.7s] and I pull it away from her as best I can. [410.2s] And as far as it looks to you, this is her regular dagger. [413.6s] Like, this isn't anything special. [415.4s] This is just her holding a dagger. [420.0s] I'm going to say, you can do this. [423.1s] She's not of sound mind at the moment, so it seems to you. [426.2s] Can't even see you, so. [427.0s] Can't even really see you. [428.9s] Thea, Lex, do you do anything at this moment? [431.6s] You're going low, so I heard. [432.9s] I'm going low. [433.8s] I think I was more there as a spotter for this amazing jump, just in case. [437.7s] Like, I went down kind of like in a crouch, just in case he needed an extra heft. [443.0s] Perfect. [443.8s] Thea, you feel Nulara's body press hard against you [450.3s] and you're knocked back to the ground. [452.4s] Tell me what you do. [455.7s] I probably scream. [459.0s] Flint, Thea lets out a loud scream directed at you, so it seems. [467.5s] Thea, you see the bile is dripping down on top of you and down all over you. [475.3s] Flint, what do you do? [476.5s] Well, I mean, it would be pretty obvious that she's just not looking at anything [480.5s] in particular, right? [481.3s] Like, she's not looking at me. [482.6s] She's just kind of staring blankly. [484.4s] Yeah, it's a very vacant, panicked look. [487.8s] Okay, so I'll do that thing that older siblings always do, [491.4s] where they put like their knees on top of your arms, [494.6s] so you can't like move your arms. [497.3s] And I'll like kind of shake her shoulders and say like, [500.5s] Thea, Thea, wake up. [503.6s] Make a constitution save. [508.3s] That is a saving throw. [513.9s] Well, that's only a 13. [516.0s] In your vision, the dagger has been knocked down to the ground [521.0s] and Lara is seated on top of you and she's like grabbing your shoulders, [529.2s] not your neck or anything. [530.6s] She's grabbing your shoulders and like hitting you into the ground. [534.8s] And on the third or fourth hit, you come to and Flint's on top of you, [541.2s] yelling down at you. [542.2s] And you look to the side and you see your dagger, [548.0s] just a regular dagger, and you're back in the hall at Castle Waterdeep. [555.0s] Oh my god. [556.8s] What? [558.6s] Flint? [559.8s] You're back? [560.7s] You awake? [561.3s] Where did I go? [563.6s] You were here the whole time. [566.6s] Oh my god. [567.5s] What did you see? [568.8s] Is you had your dagger out and you were just kind of staring ahead [572.0s] I don't know what was happening there. [573.3s] Oh, you can get, you can get off me. [575.3s] I'm think I'm fine. [576.2s] Oh, right. [576.6s] Yeah, sorry. [577.4s] Sorry. [578.8s] Hard to breathe. [583.0s] I help her up. [583.7s] I, I thought I heard something so I turned around [589.6s] and when I turned back kNulara was in front of me [594.8s] and I had her, that fucking dagger. [604.3s] Oh, the one that, that made her, right, right, right. [608.8s] That one. [609.2s] Yep. [609.7s] And I, I stabbed her with it. [613.3s] And then all this black goo came out of her mouth [616.2s] and then she was on top of me and slamming me into the ground. [619.8s] And oh my god, it was terrifying. [623.0s] I think she's pissed from beyond the grave that we lost Donnie. [626.4s] Is this, I mean, did she say anything about Donnie? [630.2s] She didn't say anything. [631.8s] Oh, okay. [632.6s] That's very unsettling then. [633.9s] At least in your previous dream, she'd been saying things to you, right? [639.4s] She didn't say anything. [641.5s] Just barfed black gunk everywhere and. [646.6s] At this point, a few people have kind of come out of different rooms. [649.9s] Oh man, I've made a scene. [652.4s] Are looking and some of them are like, is everything, everything okay? [657.3s] Yeah. [657.8s] Yeah. [658.1s] No. [658.9s] Yeah, we're fine. [659.6s] Just a little, just a little day tears. [661.9s] Don't worry about it. [662.7s] Oh my god, day tears. [664.8s] Okay. [668.5s] If you need anything, please just call. [672.1s] Yep. [672.3s] Yeah. [672.6s] Yeah. [673.0s] We'll do. [674.3s] Maybe we should ask Arvid about this too. [675.7s] I was just going to say maybe this, I mean, this cannot keep happening. [681.4s] In the day. [682.6s] No. [683.2s] Well, I mean before, at least when they happened at night, we knew that they, [686.8s] it was a possibility then, but this is a whole, this is a game changer right here. [692.0s] Good. [692.3s] We, what we needed, our plate was not quite full enough. [695.8s] So. [696.5s] Yeah. [696.7s] Yeah. [697.0s] Just keep, it's like when you go up to the buffet [699.4s] and you can find just a little more room on the plate. [704.2s] Oh, please. [704.6s] There is a Faerun all you can eat buffet. [706.3s] Of course there is. [707.1s] 100% there is. [707.9s] You guys have probably definitely been there. [709.8s] Oh, definitely. [710.6s] Probably. [711.9s] I mean, I seem to remember other characters going to an all you can eat meat place. [716.5s] It's true. [717.2s] Yep. [719.0s] Lex, you just, you just, you just watching? [722.5s] I think so. [723.7s] Okay, cool. [724.6s] That's fine. [725.4s] These aren't people I know well and there's something real crazy going on. [729.2s] She's talking about her dead friend. [731.7s] I'm going to go now. [733.3s] You guys are fine. [735.5s] We cut to the three of you bursting through Arvid's door. [741.8s] It opens. [743.8s] So you try and- [744.4s] Is it a pneumatic? [745.6s] A little bit. [746.6s] He's got an upgrade. [748.8s] He's not there. [749.8s] Arvid! [751.8s] Is it still like the pharmacy kind of place? [754.2s] Yeah, yeah, yeah. [755.4s] Sorry. [755.8s] Yes, it is for, yes. [757.1s] For Lex, it is a, a very sterile white pharmacy. [762.8s] The step up behind you, as you call out Arvid, you hear a bark and his dog runs out. [771.3s] I bend down and I go, hi puppy. [774.1s] Arvid, you hear footsteps follow in behind and he, you hear a, oh, you're home. [784.2s] Hi, Arvid. [786.2s] A dog. [789.7s] Dog? [792.2s] Yeah, a dog. [793.2s] A dog. [795.3s] Like a dog? [797.8s] No, no, no, like dog, D-A-W-G. [801.4s] Like dog, a dog, that's you. [805.0s] I missed your colloquialisms. [809.3s] Working on new words. [811.4s] That one didn't work out very well. [815.0s] But hey, at least you tried. [816.0s] Welcome home. [818.6s] You brought an interesting friend with you. [821.8s] Oh yeah, this is, this is Lex. [823.5s] Hi, I'm Lex. [825.8s] Pleasure. [827.4s] It's, I think the pleasure is all mine. [829.8s] And I hold his hand just like a little bit longer than is strictly necessary for shaking. [835.6s] Oh my, friends, forever friends at last. [843.2s] I like your new friend. [845.7s] Cool. [851.5s] Arvid, we've, we've lost Donnie. [853.6s] I mean, Leosin told me you had but one job. [864.7s] No, there's always multiple jobs. [867.9s] Also, it was a big thing here. [872.3s] And I hand the collar to Arvid and say, can you do anything? [876.8s] Can you somehow use this to find him or give us a clue to start looking in some direction? [884.0s] Yeah, yes, yes. [886.2s] Let me, let me take this to the group of, of fine wizards who do sort of location. [895.4s] He kind of waves his hands in the air. [898.2s] Like you just don't care. [901.0s] And let's see if we can perhaps find Donnie. [909.4s] You don't necessarily need to be part of this, but I can report back to you. [913.3s] Is, is there anything else you require? [917.4s] Um. [918.3s] I have something for you. [919.7s] Oh, go ahead. [921.8s] Keep going. [922.6s] I can hear from the other room. [928.1s] Okay, this is an awkward thing to scream. [930.1s] So I'm having day terrors about killing Nulara. [935.4s] Why? [938.5s] I don't know. [939.3s] No. [941.1s] Seems like something you should figure out. [945.4s] Okay. [948.8s] Flint? [950.6s] Yeah, I mean, it'd be good to get to the bottom of that. [953.4s] Plus, uh, now Ross, you said Leosan was going to help out with the other thing. [958.7s] Callum Shan finding someone who's down there. [961.2s] Yes. [962.2s] Yeah, Arvid was to locate Donnie and now night terrors. [967.0s] Perfect. [967.8s] Maybe he can have something to slow down your scaly scales. [971.2s] Footsteps. [972.0s] Yeah, that'd be good. [973.9s] You hear his footsteps coming back and he's got a small box that he has in his hand and [979.9s] night terrors are a terrible thing. [981.9s] I used to have them once before. [984.3s] Oh, no, no, no. [985.1s] She's got both night terrors and now day terrors. [988.5s] This is a new development. [989.5s] Oh, sorry. [990.2s] Yes. [991.4s] Did you say day terrors? [992.5s] I couldn't quite hear you from the other room. [994.1s] You told me you could hear me from the other room. [995.9s] I have very good hearing. [999.9s] Of course you do. [1000.8s] Look at those beautiful ears. [1002.7s] They're so well formed. [1006.2s] Thank you. [1006.7s] Thank you very much. [1008.7s] Just clean them this morning. [1011.1s] I can tell they look really great. [1013.5s] I kind of look at Thea with a little like, check this shit out. [1018.4s] Weirdo on weirdo action here. [1020.4s] I like it. [1023.4s] There's someone for everyone. [1025.3s] I'm sorry. [1026.1s] I am not a dreamologist. [1029.0s] What specifically do your terrors bring you? [1032.8s] Sounds like a sully job. [1034.6s] Totally. [1035.2s] I was just going to say, what do your terrors bring you? [1039.1s] Let me think. [1040.2s] Fear. [1040.8s] Wow. [1041.7s] Also, I'm in a completely different realm. [1045.3s] I can't see my friends. [1048.9s] Yeah, she goes kind of like catatonic while it's happening. [1053.6s] Interesting. [1054.2s] Have you had any run-ins with any mind-altering substances? [1063.4s] No. [1066.3s] Yes? [1068.3s] No. [1069.5s] I usually pause for effect and then usually the true answer comes out from my patience. [1075.7s] Well, I mean, I've smoked a little bit of weed, [1078.7s] but I don't think that's mind-altering. [1080.5s] That would have to be a lot. [1081.6s] Mood-altering. [1082.8s] A lot of weed. [1084.3s] Yeah, no, it's not that much. [1085.6s] Yeah, you've never heard of that. [1089.2s] Listen, in that dream, I was stabbing Nulara with that fucked up dagger that she had. [1094.8s] You have things you need to work through. [1097.1s] No, I think that that dagger is somewhere. [1101.6s] Like on your person? [1104.5s] Have you checked your pockets? [1107.0s] It's a pretty big dagger. [1110.9s] I look in my bag of holding. [1113.2s] I do that fun thing where you have a small bag and it's obviously smaller than your arm, [1117.9s] but then you put your arm like way down into the shoulder. [1121.8s] You call for the dagger and it does not rise to your hand. [1125.9s] Okay. [1126.1s] Well, I don't have it, but it's like, Flynn, do you know what happened to that dagger? [1131.9s] Did she have the dagger in her hand? [1135.9s] She had it on her. [1137.9s] Sorry, is this the same dagger Nulara was having concerns about that I was? [1143.5s] Yes, the murder, murder dagger. [1145.3s] Murder, murder dagger. [1146.6s] The murder, murder dagger. [1148.0s] Two murders. [1149.4s] Also, if this is like a long game for us to get our characters into therapy, [1153.5s] I'm all for it. [1155.4s] Mental health is important in D&D and outside of D&D. [1158.5s] They've been through a lot of really traumatizing events. [1161.5s] Sorry, yes, it's the same dagger. [1163.1s] Yes, it's the same issue, different issue, [1166.2s] less precise because you don't have the physical dagger. [1169.5s] So you say... [1176.3s] Well, this isn't habit. [1177.8s] This is a new wrinkle. [1180.9s] I thought perhaps I tracked down who the owner of the dagger was, [1185.9s] but probably not them. [1191.7s] Well, who did you think it was? [1195.9s] Oh, a lich out far east. [1200.1s] South? [1200.6s] They way, no. [1203.5s] Everything can't be in the same direction. [1205.1s] That'd be too easy. [1206.1s] There was rumors of a dagger of epic power capabilities. [1213.9s] Murder, murder. [1215.6s] Murder, murder came along with it being that it is a dagger. [1221.1s] Every time he says the word dagger, I look at his crotch. [1227.6s] I fucking love whatever's happening here. [1230.0s] Yeah, I'm on board with everything that's happening in this room. [1232.3s] This is so great. [1233.7s] Are you trying to be sneaky about it or are you just doing it? [1237.0s] I feel like they're all pretty involved in their conversations, [1240.0s] so he's kind of being sneaky about it. [1242.7s] Roll a stealth. [1244.4s] Well, because yeah, I mean, straight up, he said dagger like 12 times. [1248.4s] I rolled a nat one. [1250.5s] Nat one. [1251.5s] It doesn't matter. [1251.9s] Are you like four inches away from his crotch now? [1259.5s] You think you're being super sneaky, but it is very obvious. [1264.5s] Flint and Thea see Arvid stop and pause between things that he's saying. [1271.5s] Dagger. [1273.2s] Then he looks down to see if perhaps he has something on his coat. [1277.4s] He's like, no, that's clean. [1279.5s] Oh my. [1286.3s] So where was I? [1289.0s] As much as I want to explore what's going on here. [1293.3s] Okay, so it sounds like this dagger is a me problem. [1298.3s] I'm telling you, I had been working on it since Nulara first brought it to me. [1303.3s] Yes, and where is it now? [1305.7s] Well, not the dagger specifically, the lore behind the dagger, [1310.7s] because the dagger was nowhere to be seen once possessions returned to Castle Waterdeep. [1319.5s] There were strict instructions for someone to destroy the dagger, but it was not here. [1327.0s] It's fucked up, man. [1328.3s] Okay, fine. [1329.2s] If you find anything out, please let me know about the dagger. [1334.0s] Of course. [1334.7s] And maybe you can, I don't know. [1340.7s] Well, I did have something for you. [1343.7s] Hold on. [1344.3s] Oh, right. I totally forgot. [1345.4s] Yes. One moment, please. [1348.5s] New implementation. [1349.7s] He goes over to a big wall where you see a bunch of tubes, [1352.7s] puts Donnie's collar with a scroll rolled up inside of it, [1357.0s] puts it into the wall and closes the door and it goes. [1359.7s] I'm always about a pneumatic, too. [1364.1s] That will go to the wizards and I shall check on them momentarily. [1367.9s] They will. [1370.3s] Surely, if Donnie is within this realm, we will find him. [1377.1s] Thank you. [1379.5s] Thank you. [1380.6s] And now for the present. [1382.7s] He hands it to Thea. [1383.7s] Sorry, Flint and Lex. [1387.2s] This is just for Thea. [1391.4s] Like he said Lex, so like sultry. [1395.1s] Lex. [1396.8s] I open the box. [1399.5s] Inside you see a smaller box. [1405.1s] Inside of that, another box. [1408.9s] And then a bigger box. [1410.0s] Somehow magic. [1410.8s] I mean, he's a wizard. [1411.8s] It's amazing. [1413.9s] You see an amulet. [1416.5s] What color is it? [1419.0s] Turquoise. [1420.3s] You see a turquoise amulet that has [1427.5s] carvings around the perimeter of it. [1429.8s] You look closely at it and they are of weaponry and shields, [1435.5s] rough images of people in battle. [1440.3s] Oh my god, Arvid, it's so pretty. [1443.1s] I saw the color and it just said Thea to me. [1448.1s] Like you thought of me? [1451.2s] Well, in a sense. [1455.9s] But like it didn't actually talk to you. [1457.9s] I mean, doesn't everything talk? [1460.2s] Well, no, because what I'm worried about is that fucking dagger does talk to you. [1465.5s] When I say dagger, do you look at his crotch? [1467.8s] No, but I'm like just like so unhappy about this whole thing. [1472.0s] He's giving you jewelry. [1473.1s] Like I guess I've really like thought maybe I thought maybe I'd met someone special. [1480.6s] It seems like I really misread the relationship the two of you have. [1488.2s] This is for I can't even remember. [1494.2s] I'm so distracted by your friend who's now staring dagger eyes at me. [1501.2s] Oh, this is flirting. [1504.0s] This is the first time flirting's ever happened really on this podcast. [1508.3s] And it is weird AF, my friends. [1511.5s] I am loving it. [1514.6s] Oh my god. [1518.5s] Okay, so does it do anything special? [1520.2s] Oh, yes. [1524.2s] Okay, good. [1528.3s] Good to know. [1529.0s] I'll just figure it out on my own. [1530.5s] No, I can tell you. [1532.7s] Unlike the last one where I didn't tell you what each of the potions did because [1537.1s] that was fun. [1538.3s] Rufus here had to go out. [1540.9s] I've renamed him. [1541.9s] I can't recall what I named him previously. [1544.7s] It's an affliction I have. [1547.9s] I can't remember animals names. [1551.8s] It's very specific affliction. [1553.8s] I'm working on it. [1555.7s] The amulet is an amulet that will help you during combat. [1565.1s] As you see around there, it might have given a clue. [1570.3s] It will allow you to move a little swifter and provide an extra [1577.5s] drive into your opponents. [1584.8s] Out of game, it gives you an extra attack. [1586.7s] Oh my god. [1588.5s] Is it my birthday? [1590.3s] What is happening? [1592.3s] You guys. [1596.7s] Totally made up for me probably getting that fucking murder, murder dagger. [1600.7s] No one said you had it. [1602.0s] Yet. [1604.0s] Just don't ask Russ when he was originally supposed to give it to you. [1607.3s] Fuck off, Tom. [1608.7s] Oh, I'm sorry, was I supposed to have this earlier? [1612.1s] Maybe when we were fighting Tiamat. [1614.2s] Maybe we'll talk about this in the down time, which you can go check out at [1617.5s] Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cats. [1619.5s] Yes, this is not over. [1620.9s] Marital disputes happen over there. [1624.7s] Come join us. [1625.9s] I really, you know what? [1627.1s] Nothing makes me more happy to maritally dispute something is when I know that [1631.4s] a bunch of other people are listening in with their own thoughts, feelings and judgments. [1636.7s] Anyways, back in scene. [1639.3s] Arvid, thank you. [1641.1s] What is this for? [1642.6s] Well, I told you it makes you move faster in combat. [1647.9s] No, I mean, why did you, why do you have this present for me? [1651.9s] Oh, well, I might have been supposed to give it to you a while ago, [1656.9s] but it's no time like the present. [1661.0s] This was supposed to be given to me before Tiamat, wasn't it? [1663.9s] Hey, who puts timelines on such things? [1668.8s] I mean, the important part is, is that you have it now. [1670.7s] I have it now. [1672.2s] Thank you so much. [1673.5s] And I will, and I take it out of the box and I put it on. [1678.8s] Do I have to say anything like, Amulet, go. [1683.5s] Or like, on. [1685.5s] You don't have to say anything, my dear. [1688.0s] It's just, you just must first spend some time with it, get to know it. [1693.7s] I slip it in my bra. [1696.8s] Okay, yeah, that's, that's perfectly fine. [1700.4s] You must attune yourself to it and then, whoop, extra attack. [1704.7s] Will it make that sound? [1706.3s] If you do, each time you make the extra attack, yes. [1711.3s] Do I get a bonus of some kind? [1714.0s] If I remember to use the Amulet. [1716.7s] You may be granting your enemy a disadvantage [1721.9s] if you catch them off guard with the boop sound. [1725.9s] That's just a fancy way to say if I, if I have a sneak attack. [1732.1s] Well, Arvid, thank you. [1733.3s] I, I really do appreciate it. [1736.2s] Of course, of course. [1737.4s] Now tell me your, your story, sailor. [1742.2s] Carolyn's not expecting that. [1744.3s] Also, Flynn, you're not getting your cream for your rash. [1749.0s] And I move over and just like, take a closer look at your Amulet and we start like. [1754.3s] Did you just like. [1755.0s] Talking about. [1755.5s] Look down my shirt by any chance. [1757.2s] Because she did say. [1758.3s] Oh, okay. [1759.0s] Well, we're close. [1759.6s] They're very snuggle. [1760.7s] Yeah. [1763.3s] Well, I'm about to go on a very long journey. [1766.9s] Really? [1767.1s] To the Baldrick Mountains. [1770.7s] I just laughed and fogged up my glasses completely. [1775.0s] Yeah, I'll be leaving probably tomorrow. [1778.7s] Leaving town tomorrow, so. [1781.6s] Oh, such. [1781.9s] I guess it'll just be my last, last night in Waterdeep. [1784.8s] Such a pity. [1785.5s] The Baldrick Mountains are very far away. [1788.8s] Yes, yes. [1789.8s] I have to go find my. [1794.0s] Father? [1797.4s] Question mark? [1799.1s] Well. [1802.3s] More my. [1804.6s] Creator. [1806.4s] Intrigue. [1808.5s] Yes, I have many fascinating stories to tell. [1811.8s] Well, once you have wrapped up for the day, perhaps you. [1815.5s] I would have some things that would help you on your journey. [1819.9s] You could come back and and visit. [1823.1s] That's very kind of you, Arvid. [1825.3s] I will be back. [1827.9s] Later today. [1831.3s] Excellent. [1835.1s] Okay, then. [1835.8s] Are you two? [1840.2s] Ready or is there? [1841.0s] Oh yeah, no, I'm totally ready. [1843.2s] I said thanks Arvid and I'm like walking out. [1848.7s] So. [1849.4s] Arvid. [1850.7s] Arvid, hey. [1853.0s] Well, I thought maybe with the jewelry, something. [1856.5s] Oh, no. [1857.4s] Was happening. [1859.3s] Arvid and I are just pals. [1862.2s] Okay. [1862.5s] They got off to like a weird start. [1866.0s] It was a whole thing. [1866.8s] I mean, so did we, but like in a good way. [1869.5s] Oh, I could feel it. [1871.2s] Yeah. [1873.5s] The word electric comes to mind and dagger for some reason. [1878.2s] Yeah, what was with that much more sexual now than it was before. [1881.8s] So where are you two off to now? [1884.3s] You need to. [1885.9s] Get the fuck out of here so you can hang out with Arvid. [1888.7s] Get supplies or yeah. [1890.9s] Yeah, lots of stuff to do. [1893.5s] We gotta go do that stuff. [1894.9s] So I'm gonna go get in tune with my amulet maybe. [1900.8s] Gonna go hit up the smithy. [1903.8s] See if I can work on anything. [1907.6s] You have fun there Lex. [1909.5s] Well, thank you and thank you for getting me out of prison all those weeks ago and for. [1917.2s] For everything. [1918.3s] I really wish you luck finding Donnie. [1920.7s] It's a real tragedy. [1922.2s] If I see him or hear any word of anything about him on my journey, I'll send word to you. [1935.8s] I guess this is goodbye. [1938.2s] I guess it is. [1941.2s] Can I, and I like put my hands out for a hug. [1943.9s] Like, can I? [1946.3s] And I, of course. [1948.3s] Yeah, hug it up. [1949.1s] Hug. [1952.3s] Yeah, I want to end on some of this hug action too. [1954.3s] Tall person, tall person, crotch level. [1957.7s] Yeah, he's four feet. [1959.6s] He's slightly above crotch. [1962.0s] Slightly above crotch level. [1964.3s] That's math. [1964.7s] We have a nice hug. [1980.1s] Interlude, interlude. [1981.9s] This is a completely original interlude song. [1984.3s] Don't sue us, Dosnie. [1986.5s] It's gonna be okay. [1987.9s] Welcome to the middle everybody. [1989.7s] How you doing today? [1991.6s] Super great episode where we totally resolved all the things you wanted resolved. [1996.0s] Tune in next week for more. [1998.0s] But first. [1998.7s] When Russ puts us back in a maze. [2000.5s] Where we all have really great stories where we reveal a whole bunch of really [2003.7s] great things is over on our other podcast. [2006.2s] Which is called Facing Fate. [2007.8s] Did you know we had another podcast you might have? [2010.0s] Because we mention it sometimes. [2011.2s] I knew. [2011.9s] I also knew. [2012.9s] I had not heard that. [2016.6s] Hearing this for the first time? [2017.8s] Thank you to two of you for paying attention to what we do. [2020.7s] Just kidding. [2021.5s] I know all about it. [2022.5s] I listened to the last episode. [2024.1s] And by listen to the last episode, I mean I skipped through all the scary parts. [2031.0s] Because I wanted to hear the end. [2033.1s] With her fingers in her ears. [2034.3s] That's a little teaser about the content. [2036.3s] It's pretty scary. [2038.3s] It's kind of spooky. [2040.1s] It's okay you guys. [2041.4s] It's okay. [2042.0s] So Facing Fate. [2043.8s] We're just going to give you the elevator pitch now. [2045.5s] We want you to go listen to it because we're so very proud of it. [2048.5s] The first season. [2049.6s] Every season is going to be different. [2051.7s] Set that up there. [2052.5s] So new characters, new story, new everything. [2054.4s] But the first season is on the moon. [2057.2s] What? [2058.2s] What? [2059.1s] So sci-fi. [2060.3s] It's got thrills. [2061.7s] It's got scaries that keep Carla up at night. [2064.9s] Especially when we were playing it. [2066.5s] Because I'd leave it on real good cliffhangers. [2069.5s] It's like based in the real world. [2071.0s] So we're playing real people. [2072.7s] Except, you know, all the horror sci-fi stuff that isn't quite real. [2076.2s] But we're like all human people. [2078.0s] Yeah. [2078.6s] That isn't real yet, Roz. [2081.1s] Isn't real yet. [2081.9s] Yeah. [2082.3s] No. [2082.6s] There's a lot of foreshadowing in here that if it comes true, we might be in trouble. [2088.0s] Or we'll know exactly what to do. [2089.8s] Oh, that's true too. [2090.9s] Yeah. [2091.4s] Yeah. [2091.9s] So if you want to know what to do in the near dystopian future where we're living on the moon, [2096.8s] go check it out at facingfake.com. [2130.7s] I find it amazing we were able to tell a story in just 10 episodes [2134.5s] because it took us more than that to get out of that maze. [2137.7s] Yeah. [2138.1s] It took you seven episodes. [2140.1s] It feels like longer. [2141.9s] It took you seven episodes. [2144.5s] Seventeen episodes? [2145.8s] Are you missing some letters? [2147.8s] Seventeen episodes? [2149.5s] Yeah. [2149.8s] We're not even going to get into this because this will be a whole other interlude. [2153.0s] Go check it out. [2153.9s] Facing Fate. [2154.8s] Search for it down in the description [2156.8s] and then visit us at Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast [2159.3s] to get all the sweet early content for season two, which is going to be great. [2164.2s] And we're going to announce it next week. [2166.6s] Okay. [2166.8s] Thanks everybody. [2167.7s] Love you. [2168.1s] Bye. [2168.6s] Bye. [2168.9s] The three of you part ways. [2178.6s] Flint and Thea, I assume you have rooms here. [2183.9s] I just assume we just have standing chambers. [2186.7s] Yep. [2187.1s] Yeah. [2187.3s] I would assume there's some sort of quarters. [2189.0s] For the decimators of dragons. [2191.2s] You head there to go rest, clean up, get whatever you need sorted. [2196.5s] I got to rub the smell of sex off of me because of what was going on in that room. [2201.5s] I'll wash that off. [2203.7s] Lex, where do you go and what do you do? [2208.3s] We don't have to necessarily go there. [2212.7s] Maybe you do other something before we close the scene on that. [2216.6s] I don't want to seem desperate. [2218.2s] No, yeah. [2218.7s] He said later. [2219.2s] Because you said later tonight and then like you turn around five minutes later [2222.6s] and you're like. [2225.1s] It's later. [2226.0s] So I. [2227.9s] Ditch those losers. [2230.7s] I feel like I've been traveling for a long time. [2233.5s] So maybe I go like clean up somewhere. [2239.0s] Gussy myself up. [2240.6s] Sure. [2241.2s] Yeah, absolutely. [2242.7s] I don't. [2243.1s] Is there bath houses? [2244.5s] We ever done that before? [2245.9s] I don't know that I'd get a room in an inn because I feel like I might have [2248.9s] somewhere to stay tonight. [2252.0s] Whoa. [2253.8s] Sure. [2254.1s] Yeah, there's yeah, bath houses. [2256.8s] Sure. [2257.2s] There's that you go clean up and you are I mean you get some looks [2264.7s] because of your self. [2267.7s] Yeah, yeah, because of the whole thing going on. [2271.1s] Giant modeled skin held together with stitches, you know, that whole thing. [2277.9s] And then you head back out. [2279.7s] It's kind of around. [2280.9s] Yeah, it's probably I don't know how. [2282.7s] How long does it take to use a bath house? [2284.9s] 20 minutes an hour. [2286.8s] I don't know. [2287.5s] Say an hour for. [2288.4s] I have a drink. [2289.2s] Maybe I eat some food. [2290.3s] I don't know. [2290.7s] You soak in there. [2292.7s] Have a steam. [2295.1s] You take your time. [2296.1s] You get cleaned up. [2297.5s] You head back out into the streets. [2299.9s] You're headed back towards Castle Water Deep when you hear a. [2305.0s] What sounds to you like a cry for help down an alleyway? [2310.2s] Well, I go see what's happening. [2312.7s] You run down the alley and turn a corner and you see three men kicking down at someone on the ground. [2323.2s] What are you? [2323.8s] Hey, what are you doing? [2325.1s] And I like run towards them. [2327.5s] They hear you yell out. [2328.9s] Look up and say, let's get out of here. [2330.4s] Go, go. [2332.1s] They run off. [2333.1s] They keep running down the alley. [2335.7s] Do you pursue or do you stop at the person they were kicking in? [2339.1s] How does the person look? [2341.9s] Doesn't look very good. [2343.2s] It looks like they've been. [2344.5s] They are currently unconscious. [2346.9s] Blood is dripping pretty much everywhere. [2350.7s] They look very bad. [2352.6s] Then I will stop. [2355.1s] You see the three run away and you kneel down towards the male who's dressed in. [2363.2s] He's dressed in commoners' clothings. [2366.0s] He doesn't look like he himself is very well off. [2369.9s] And he kind of coughs as you do what you do. [2376.9s] So I'm going to kneel beside him and try to see if I can tell where he is most injured. [2388.2s] Just with like a cursory kind of pat down or it's maybe obvious. [2391.8s] Sure. [2392.3s] Yeah, you check him out and his rib cage has been almost entirely crushed in. [2399.1s] He's got large goose eggs and welts across a couple of spots on his head. [2406.0s] You can tell he's got a broken arm at the very least. [2409.9s] Possibly a broken leg. [2413.4s] Okay. [2413.7s] So I'm going to put a hand on his head and then one on his midsection by those crushed ribs [2420.3s] and I am going to channel lay on hands and try to heal him. [2428.7s] So you put your hand on his head and his midsection and then describe to me again [2435.9s] your process and what it looks like as your life force transfers into this man. [2442.8s] Sure, and so this is a bit more intense than when it was just [2445.5s] what I tried, like that kind of basic trying with Flint on the wagon. [2452.1s] So hand on head, hand on midsection, eyes closed, like my full concentration. [2461.3s] So totally vulnerable at this point to anyone who might want to attack me. [2467.3s] And I sort of just gather what feels like, but of course I don't see this, [2473.3s] but like feels like a pool of yellow light in my chest that I then like channel out [2480.4s] through my hands into this injured person. [2486.1s] This energy leaves you and you feel below your hands, the bones begin to crack back [2493.5s] into place and the muscles begin to pop back where they should be. [2498.7s] It's a long process and you yourself begin to feel his wounds almost beginning to transfer to [2508.9s] you. You feel strain on your ribs and head and limbs as you are doing this. Do you continue? [2520.6s] I do. [2521.0s] I feel like once I am in this state and I have maybe never been this deep into this state before, [2532.3s] it is the pain of what is happening to my body is sort of happening like [2539.3s] outside of my awareness or I'm like somewhat aware that it is happening, [2543.1s] but really I am just concentrating on this yellow light. [2551.1s] The energy continues to transfer into the man. Perseus sensing that things are happening, [2561.9s] climbs up and out of your pocket, runs down your shoulder and to the ground and [2567.7s] you can't see him, but they are looking back up at you. [2572.8s] And the man takes a deep breath. You feel that breath as [2583.2s] the man's wounds have entirely healed. [2588.5s] The energy stops flowing and you feel yourself crumple to the ground beside him. [2598.4s] Perseus rushes to you [2603.1s] tending to some of the wounds that have opened up in your own body. You open your eyes and you [2610.5s] look down and the skin has begun to peel back at the seams of where your limbs and [2619.2s] various different parts come together worse than you've ever seen them before. [2633.9s] I think that I would just like, you know, this is my very best friend in the whole world, [2639.0s] Perseus, and I just kind of like stroke his back and say like, it's okay, it's okay, [2644.2s] I'm okay, and maybe even try and give him a little of that soothing energy that I [2652.3s] shot Leosin in that handshake earlier, so which is just like the tiniest lowest level [2659.9s] feeling just to calm him. [2663.9s] You lay with Perseus and this man in the alleyway for quite a while until you [2672.6s] hear footsteps walking up the alleyway and you sense them come up behind you [2682.7s] and you feel yourself being picked up. [2689.7s] The man, you look down, you see him, he is not conscious but he is completely healed. [2699.8s] He's got blood stains on his clothes and on his skin but you can tell that you have brought him [2705.5s] back from death where he would have been. You look to the side and you see Arvid [2713.4s] and he picks you up and walks back with you to his office. [2723.4s] We'll get you cleaned up here. [2729.8s] I told you I'd see you later. [2733.2s] That you did. [2751.9s] We go back to Flint and Thea who are back in Leosin's office and he says, [2757.4s] well, we do have someone down in Calum Shan. I almost forgot where you were going. [2766.2s] You're jet set individuals, aren't you? Calum Shan, that's where we're going. [2771.4s] Yes, still want to? [2772.7s] Yes, absolutely. [2775.8s] I just thought you were going to say it. [2779.6s] I like the element of surprise. I'm working on my delivery. Too much? [2785.0s] No, you're doing great. [2786.0s] Great, perfect. I mean, it's a new look for you. [2791.5s] I was told that I was too by the books. I had to be a little bit more of a storyteller. [2797.0s] You've been going to like Toastmasters and stuff? [2800.5s] Yes. [2804.8s] God, nothing kills a conversation like bringing up Toastmasters. [2811.0s] Sorry, Toastmasters, sorry about that. [2813.5s] Yes. Here's the thing, Calum Shan, very far away. The person you are going to meet, [2821.7s] they go by the name of Yenbul. Might get the pronunciation wrong, [2826.5s] not entirely sure, but that's who we are aware of. [2830.6s] Yenbul? [2832.3s] Yes, Y-E-N-B-U-L, Yenbul. We'll find out when we meet them. [2839.3s] So you have not met this person? [2841.1s] I mean, it's been a while since they've been here. I'm only super new here [2848.3s] in the grand scheme of things. [2852.3s] So yes, mostly written correspondence since they've been down there quite a while. [2861.5s] Now, Calum Shan, like I said, very far away. [2865.5s] There are a couple ways we can get you there. [2867.5s] One is by teleportation, quick, simple. We can get you into Calumport, which is the capital, [2874.8s] where Yenbul is supposed to be. We can tell them, send ahead of you to meet you, [2881.3s] and then hopefully figure out where this temple, where the temple is. [2885.3s] Hopefully, it's very obvious. I'm thinking it might not be. [2891.2s] Option B, [2892.4s] option B, oh, hiccup with the teleport, getting you back. [2902.9s] We don't have quite the same system set up down there as we do here, [2907.7s] so you'd either have to figure out, find someone down there who could teleport you back, [2911.9s] or we could send a ship down, pick you up, bring you back. [2917.1s] Option B, you take a ship down all the way, [2920.6s] and then take the ship back. Depends what you want to do. [2924.6s] I'm just giving you the options. Well, I think time is of the essence. [2928.5s] I say, teleport down, ship back up. How long does a ship take? [2936.4s] Several weeks. Yeah, okay. [2939.2s] So instead of several weeks times two, it'll just be several weeks. [2945.6s] Some people are very anti-magic, which is why I have to give both options. [2951.7s] I know you two are really cool. Can we not do it both ways? [2960.3s] No, it doesn't work the same way in Kalisham. [2967.0s] Just because we don't have the same network set up down there, you would have to specifically, [2970.3s] or you and Yen Bull, maybe Yen Bull knows somebody, that is an option as well. [2974.4s] But you would have to find someone who could teleport you. [2977.9s] Okay, gotcha. [2980.3s] But we would send the ship to be sure that you have a way of getting back. [2986.4s] Not just left on your own devices. [2988.7s] Could take us a few weeks just to find the temple, so. [2991.6s] Very well could. [2994.2s] So if that's all we can send you down there, [2999.2s] Arvid says they're trying very hard to track down Donnie, [3002.6s] but it's turning up not so fruitful so far. [3009.4s] We will send word if we find him in your absence. [3017.1s] Very sorry. [3019.4s] We'll find him. [3021.0s] Yes. The fact that we can't find him is good, because it means, well, I mean, [3029.0s] it's not good. It's better. It means he might not be in this realm, this plane. [3037.9s] And that's good for us? [3040.5s] Well, it means he has a possibility of being alive. You know, Monk Should's Cat? [3050.5s] What? [3051.5s] Oh, you know, Monk Should's Cat. [3054.0s] Monk Should's Cat. [3055.4s] Yes. [3056.4s] Like Monk Should Cat? [3058.7s] No, no, no. Like the famous wizard Monk Should. [3062.2s] The famous wizard Monk Should? [3063.9s] Yes. And how he posited, if I have this magical box, and I told you there's a cat in it, [3074.7s] but you don't know if there's a cat in it, the cat is both alive and dead in the magical box. [3083.1s] Right. [3083.9s] So Donnie is both alive and dead in this magical plane. [3089.1s] In another plane. Whereas if they had found him... [3092.8s] Would be either... [3094.9s] We would know. [3095.4s] Yes. Exactly. I'm just saying. Monk Should's Cat. [3098.5s] Monk Should's Cat. Perfect. I will write that one down. [3102.2s] He probably should, because I don't remember him. [3103.9s] I'm going to look into Monk Should, see if maybe he can come to a seminar on some such... [3112.8s] Well, I don't know if he's still alive, but I mean... [3117.3s] That hasn't stopped us before. [3122.6s] Fair enough. [3126.4s] Is there anything you need prior to leaving? We'll assume that you've got all like basic [3131.0s] stuff. You know, you've sharpened your weapons, you've got your food, rations, [3135.0s] clothes, whatever you want. [3136.3s] All that stuff that other people do in D&D, but we just assume is always [3140.7s] magically taken care of. [3143.8s] Is there anything, any specific questions about Callum Shan that you might have? [3147.8s] I have, you know, tersary knowledge. [3150.7s] What's the weather like? Hot? Cold? [3153.1s] It's very desert-like. Very hot. [3156.9s] Okay. Any wild animals that we might not find here that might freak us the fuck out? [3164.6s] I mean, there are, you know, regional monsters, regional, that sort of thing. [3173.4s] There are a great amount of gins and genies that you, I'm told, should be wary of. [3184.8s] Okay. [3185.9s] They're mischievous, is the lore that they send back, [3192.2s] that people don't trust them very much. [3195.0s] So don't put all our eggs in their basket. [3198.0s] You might not want to put any of your eggs in their basket, [3200.9s] but especially not all of them. [3203.0s] All right. Are these Callum Shanians? [3208.5s] Kalashites. [3209.5s] Kalashites. [3212.3s] Okay. Sorry. [3217.2s] Do they worship any particular gods? [3220.3s] Um, not in particular. Nothing, nothing. No. [3227.6s] Okay, cool. [3228.1s] Nothing in particular. [3229.3s] What you'll find down there is they are, [3231.6s] because they're such an ancient civilization, they, they're very, [3237.9s] you'll find a lot more magic usage down there. [3242.6s] Nice. [3243.4s] So, being a bit more commonplace, the rumors you hear down by the docks [3248.7s] is that everyone and their, and their dog owns a magic carpet. [3253.3s] Lee Olsen, what are you doing down by the docks? [3257.1s] These are the rumors that make it back to me. [3260.9s] It's just, if you hear- [3261.8s] Clean cut guy like you wouldn't last five minutes in the docks. [3264.8s] This is why I don't go down to the docks. [3266.9s] I just- [3267.5s] Okay. Well, I would also like to have a magic carpet. [3270.1s] Well, um, that's just the rumors that they're very magical. [3275.1s] They, they, they all just treat it as a normal thing. [3279.4s] And perhaps you should too. [3281.6s] Desert-like, there's some jungles, depending on where you go, [3284.9s] it's mixed, it's very large. [3286.4s] So, you'll run into a whole bunch of different things, [3288.4s] depending on where you actually have to go, [3290.1s] where Yen Bull thinks that your temple is. [3293.7s] Okay. Well. [3296.1s] And with that, he takes you down to the teleportation chamber, [3300.2s] where you've been before. [3302.2s] I alter self, khaki shorts, tank top, gossamer cape. [3310.3s] Is there a time limit on your alter self or you just- [3313.1s] No, I can just alter self. [3315.3s] Okay, cool. Perfect. [3316.3s] It's just a fun thing I can do now that I'm so supes powerful. [3318.4s] The cape is a nice touch. [3319.6s] Flint, what is your, your attire? [3321.4s] Knowing that it's a desert locale, what is, how does Flint dress? [3325.9s] Yeah. I mean, I guess he's going to have to steal a page from Merle and go beach dwarf. [3331.5s] Okay, cool. Sandals, flip flops. [3334.9s] Oh, flip flops, Hawaiian shirt. [3337.3s] Well, actually, no, like those- [3338.6s] No, go gladiator sandals. [3340.8s] Active sandals. Yeah. [3342.1s] So you can like go out and climb rocks and stuff, [3344.3s] but still have your feet out. [3345.8s] I like it. [3346.3s] So we'll go with those. [3348.1s] Tommy Bahama style Hawaiian shirt. [3350.4s] Yes. [3351.1s] And not cargo shorts, but like big shorts. [3355.4s] I look over at you and I go, fucking tourist. [3358.5s] You're going to blend in marvelously. I can ju- both of you. I can just feel it. [3364.3s] Perfect. [3364.8s] All right, wizards. And you step into the teleportation circles and the wizards begin [3371.5s] their incantations and the runes begin to glow and you begin to fade. [3375.6s] And I shout out, tell Arvid to use protection. [3380.2s] You just see a very confused look on Leo's face as you snap out. [3388.5s] And there is a flash and a rumble and an explosion. [3398.0s] And you are thrown hard against the side of a building. [3406.3s] The intro song, Nowhere Land, is by Kavin MacLeod of incompetech.filmmusic.io.
